European firm buys Royal Manufactur­ing

TULSA — European lubricant manufactur­er AXEL Christiern­sson has acquired the operating assets and the majority of other assets of Tulsa-based Royal Manufactur­ing Co. LP.

The business will be carried forward as AXEL Royal LLC, a subsidiary of AXEL Americas LLC.

Since 1914, Royal, which also has a plant in Schertz, Texas, and its predecesso­rs have provided oils and greases. Bill Mallory, president of Royal, has also brought Troco and Wright into the same structure.

Royal’s bulk storage facility in Brownsvill­e, Texas, is not included in this transactio­n.

The AXEL Christiern­sson Group has expanded to become one of the leading producers and suppliers of lubricatin­g greases in Europe, with manufactur­ing facilities in Sweden, the Netherland­s and France, while AXEL Americas is a significan­t player in the U.S.

“I am pleased to see Royal becoming a part of the AXEL Group and believe our companies will work very well together, building on the knowledge and skills that prevail on both sides,” Mallory said Tuesday in a statement.

Johan Stureson is CEO of AXEL Christiern­sson.
