Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School has selected senior Lucas Schrantz as the March Student of the Month.

A two-year member of National Honor Society, Lucas has been on the Presidenti­al Honor Roll maintainin­g a 3.5 GPA for four semesters. He is a Student Council senator and has worked on all episodes of McGTV.

Club organizati­ons include MESS Club and Latin Club. He has been a member of the Speech and Debate Club for the past three years, currently serving as Vice President. He has been a Boy Scout since fifth grade and is a troop leader. Last year he received the honor of Eagle Scout.

Lucas’ real passion is in theater. He has performed in every McGuinness school play since his freshman year, most recently playing Aldolpho in “The Drowsy Chaperone.”

A four-year member of the Fighting Irish Football team, Lucas was a member of the 2017 Academic State Championsh­ip squad. He has been on the Track team for the last two years.

His community service includes altar server at Christ the King Catholic Church. He was involved with several mission trips through the church and is a leader for the middle school ministry program. Lucas played a vital part in the annual Canned Food Drive, helping the Irish set a record for canned goods collected. He was also very involved in the Bishop McGuinness Senior Service Project, hosting a carnival for members of Boys & Girls Club of OK County.

Lucas’ hobbies include theater and acting. He plans to attend the University of Oklahoma in the fall and has been accepted into the OU School of Drama. He is the son of Kurt and Mary Schrantz, of Oklahoma City.
