• Churches offer aid during walkout
Several churches are joining together to offer ongoing aid to families impacted by the teacher walkout.
Crossings Community Church is offering various aid to students at Crossings Community Center, 10255 N Pennsylvania Ave., which is a designated food distribution location for the Oklahoma City Public School District. The church is also helping with meal service at other schools like Stan Hupfeld Academy, 1508 NW 106, that plan to be open to provide meals during the walkout.
Crossings Community Center also will be open for extended hours for students from John Marshall Mid-High who are currently enrolled in The Club, an after-school program offered at the center.
Meanwhile, Frontline Church is partnering with Prospect Missionary Baptist Church to offer free meals from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Prospect, 2809 N Missouri. The meals are for students in first through eighth grades.
Kori Hall, a member of Frontline, said lunch and snacks will be offered. She said the churches will be offering child care, including activities during the allotted time frame.
