Source: Lue expected to return Thursday
Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue is expected to return from a medical absence and be back on the bench Thursday night against Washington, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Lue, who has been away from the team since March 19 so he could focus on his health, has been cleared to resume his duties, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.
Lue had been experiencing chest pains, insomnia and other symptoms when he agreed to take a leave of absence.
While Lue was away, the Cavs went 8-1 under associate coach Larry Drew.
•Alabama football coach Nick Saban isn’t scrapping a program that drew a complaint from LeBron James.
The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar says the Crimson Tide’s “Shop Talk” trailer uses “ideas, concepts and format” from a program on the digital media platform James co-founded.
Last year, “Uninterrupted” aired “The Shop,” where James, Golden State forward Draymond Green and others talk in a barbershop.
Alabama released a trailer on Twitter for “Shop Talk” showing Saban and NFL receiver Julio Jones in a barbershop setting. “Uninterrupted” sent a letter to Alabama, citing concerns over copyright infringement and intellectual property.
Saban said he didn’t know about James’ show. He says, “I’m sorry that anybody could be offended by something that we were just having fun with, and I enjoyed it and we’re going to continue to do it.”
•Philadelphia center Joel Embiid sat out for a fourth straight game with a concussion and orbital fracture.
Embiid missed Wednesday night’s matchup with the Detroit Pistons, who were without former Oklahoma star Blake Griffin.
