Oklahoma City will host a special collection for unwanted computers, tires, ammunition and prescription drugs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at State Fair Park.
The drop-off site will be on the south side of fair park, east of the arena. Enter the grounds from May Avenue at Gate 5 on Gordon Cooper Boulevard.
The collection is open to Oklahoma City residents only. Recyclers must bring their current city of Oklahoma City water bill stub to prove residency.
Syringes, liquids, inhalers, tire rims, televisions and wheels will not be accepted.
Businesses wanting to recycle hazardous waste should contact the state Department of Environmental Quality at 702-5100.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 1621 S Portland Ave. accepts a wide variety of hazardous materials from residents’ homes year-round. The type of products accepted at the facility includes gasoline, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, weed killers, swimming pool chemicals and paint-related products. The facility is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility is operated by the Stormwater Quality Division of the Public Works Department.

Mustang schools to hold job fair
Mustang Public Schools is holding its annual certified and support job fair from 4 to 7 p.m. April 12 at Mustang High School.
Anyone interested in a position, from teachers and counselors to child nutrition and bus drivers, is welcome to the come-and-ago event where potential applicants will have the opportunity to speak with principals and administrators in charge of hiring.
Even if a position is not open, candidates are encouraged to attend. Mustang Public Schools is opening a new elementary school and a new intermediate school for the 2018-2019 school year, and there will be multiple certified and support openings to be filled.
Mustang Public Schools also will have information available on alternative certification for anyone who has a bachelor’s degree but is not a certified teacher. Individuals who have completed at least a bachelor’s degree in a subject that directly corresponds to a teaching license endorsement area may be eligible for alternative certification. A grade-point average of at least 2.5 is required, as well as two years of work experience in the degree field or completion of post-baccalaureate coursework related to the degree field. Event to offer resources to seniors, families
The Salvation Army’s seventh annual Senior Living Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 27 at the Warr Acres Senior Center, 4301 N Ann Arbor.
This year, the Senior Living Fair’s focus will be to provide a variety of resources from across the community, ranging from affordable housing to getting finances in order for seniors and their families.
“This year’s event promises to offer a wealth of information,” said Lisa Sydnor, senior programs manager at The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma. “Many seniors and their families may be facing life-changing decisions and do not know who or where to turn for help. Our goal is for them to leave with their questions answered and to know there is a network of agencies ready to step in and help.”
The Senior Living Fair is free to the public — thanks to sponsors like Oklahoma Senior Journal, Senior News and Living, and United Health Care — and includes exhibits with information about health and wellness, housing, Medicare, insurance, aging-in-place and end-of-life decisions.
Exhibitors this year will include Neighborhood Services Organization, Sunbeam Family Services, Around the Clock Home Care, Village at Oakwood Assisted Living, Concordia Life Care Community, Grace Living Centers, Metropolitan Library System and many more.
The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma operates four senior centers throughout the Oklahoma City metro. The centers are open weekdays to seniors ages 55 and older. Seniors have the opportunity to socialize, enjoy lunch and participate in numerous activities that include Bible study, exercise classes, crafts, dancing and more.
