Punter confirms deal with Broncos

- FROM WIRE REPORTS

Punter Marquette King has signed a three-year, $7 million contract with the Denver Broncos less than a week after his surprising release from the Oakland Raiders.

King said he wasn't sure if his oft-flagged on-field antics, which included a bucking' bronco celebration, is what led Jon Gruden to release him but he said, "the Broncos encourage you to be yourself."

King also said signing with the Raiders' AFC West rival "was somewhat of a revenge factor, too" so that he can face his former team twice a season.

The sixth-year pro was a Pro Bowl alternate last season and a second-team All Pro in 2016. He's the only punter in NFL history to post at least a 40-yard net average in each of his first five seasons.

And King has averaged a whopping 50 yards a punt in his five games in Denver, where he'll replace Riley Dixon, who slumped last year after a solid rookie season.

•Running back Stevan Ridley and wide receiver Justin Hunter are sticking with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Both players signed oneyear contracts on Thursday to remain with the two-time defending AFC North champions in 2018.

•The New York Jets have re-signed tackle Ben Ijalana, who has been a backup with the team.

Ijalana has been a versatile offensive lineman since the Jets signed him off waivers from Indianapolis at the start of the 2013 season.

•The Arizona Cardinals have been awarded waiver claims on quarterbacks Brad Doughty from the Miami Dolphins and Alek Torgersen from the Detroit Lions.

Neither has thrown a pass in the NFL.

Doughty was a seventhround pick of the Dolphins out of Western Kentucky in 2016 and spent the last two seasons on the Miami practice squad. Torgersen was an undrafted rookie free agent out of Penn last year and spent the season on the Washington and Detroit practice squads.

The additions give Arizona four quarterbacks on the roster, the pair joining recent signees Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon.

•The New York Giants have signed durable cornerback William Gay.

A Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick in 2007, he played in 176 consecutive regular-season and 15 postseason games through the end of the 2017 season. He spent 10 of those years with Pittsburgh, and the 2012 season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Gay is the fifth defensive back signed by the Giants this offseason, joining Michael Thomas, B.W. Webb, Curtis Riley and Teddy Williams.

Gay, a backup for the Steelers last season, was released in March.
