APRIL 21 K.C. Clifford to perform ‘Anthology for a Songwriter’

-

Award-winning Oklahoma City folk singer-songwriter K.C. Clifford will pay homage to her literary inspirations at “Anthology for a Songwriter” April 21 at Commonplace Books, 1325

N Walker Ave., No. 138.

Commonplace Books is hosting the evening, which will include readings of Clifford’s best-loved authors as well as performances of the songs their works inspired. The Midtown bookstore will transform into an intimate listening space for the event, and Clifford will be joined on stage by her husband, guitarist David Broyles (of the local band Dr. Pants).

“In my experience, books have shaped who I am, informed how I see myself and how I view the world around me. There are works that feel deeply woven into my identity, and those writings have influenced my own art as a songwriter. In recent shows, I’ve found myself quoting some of my favorite authors. I’m taking that one step further with ‘Anthology for a Songwriter,’” Clifford said in a statement. “This show will be unlike any I’ve presented to date. I’m excited to see what becomes of it.” Clifford released her latest album, “Coming Bare,” in November, adding it to an acclaimed list of indie releases that includes “The Tag Hollow Sessions” (2012); “Orchid” (2010); “Pockets Full of Hope: Live at The Blue Door” (2008); “Teeth-marks on My Tongue” (2004); and “Times Like These” (2000). Tickets for “Anthology for a Songwriter” are $20 and on sale at www.kcclifford.com/tour.
