Redbud Classic cancels its Saturday events
Due to expected inclement weather, the Redbud Classic is canceling all cycling events scheduled for Saturday.
Sunday’s running events are still on as scheduled.
Due to expected inclement weather, the Redbud Classic is canceling all events scheduled for Saturday, including the 10-mile, 33-mile and 45-mile cycling events and 1-mile kids fun run.
All Sunday events will go on as planned, including the 5K and 10K timed runs, the 5K-wheelchair event, the 2-mile walk and the baby stroller derby.
Cyclists are encouraged to pick up their packets, shirts and medals on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Redbud Classic registration office located at 6465 Avondale Dr. in Nichols Hills Plaza or on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Redbud information tent in Nichols Hills Plaza.
OU tries for No. 7
The No. 1-ranked Oklahoma men’s gymnastics team will attempt to win its seventh consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title as it takes on No. 4 Stanford, No. 11 Air Force and No. 12 California on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Sooners, Cardinal and Bears are all coming off a bye week, while the Falcons claimed the USA Gymnastics National Championship for the ninth consecutive year last weekend, scoring a 396.400.

Trading card show set in Edmond
Al's Sports Cards, 116 E 15th in Edmond, will have its monthly trading card show from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday. Several dealers will be on hand at the in-store event.
Drawings for $10 gift vouchers, which are good at any dealer table, will be held at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Collectors can attend the show free of admission charge.
Shippy finalist for national award
Oklahoma State softball standout Vanessa Shippy was one of 10 athletes named as finalists for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award, it was announced Friday.
An acronym for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School," the award seeks to recognize studentathletes who have notable achievements in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.
During her collegiate career, Shippy has placed herself among the elite players in the program's history.
She is the only Cowgirl to earn multiple All-America and Academic All-America honors, as she earned both titles in each of the past two seasons.
A native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Shippy was selected from a group of 30 by national media.
