Helker headed North

Edmond Memorial distance runner Jed Helker says he will compete at the next level for Wichita State.

After taking home an individual title this past fall, Edmond Memorial long distance runner Jed Helker has decided where he will compete next fall.

Helker announced this week that he was verbally committing to run at Wichita State.

Helker, who claimed the Class 6A boys cross country title with a time of 15:46.91, was The Oklahoman's Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year the past two seasons.

Now in track season, Helker and Edmond Memorial have been busy in competitio­n against teams across the country.

At the Texas Relays last weekend, Edmond Memorial placed first in the distance medley relay, defeating more than 30 other high school teams from across the nation.

Helker anchored the race with a time of 4:13 in the 1600 meter.

Northwest Classen forward commits to Southern Nazarene

Northwest Classen forward Mo Wilson has settled on where he will play his college basketball.

He's staying close to home.

Wilson announced via his Twitter account on Friday afternoon that he was committing to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany.

Wilson helped lead Northwest to the state semifinals this past season, averaging 18 points per game, nine rebounds and nearly four assists.

OCA releases All-Stars by class

The Oklahoma Coaches Associatio­n released its All-Star basketball team by class.

The awards were given out to seniors, based on their play throughout the season.

Here is look at the AllStar teams for the large schools in Class 4A and above.
