Compared to last week: Combined weighted average report for Oklahoma auctions. Seven auctions reported this week: Ada, Apache, El Reno, McAlester, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder steers under 850 lbs. sold mostly $2-$6 higher, over 850 lbs. sold $6 lower on light receipts. Feeder heifers sold mostly steady to $2 higher, over 700 lbs. sold $2-$3 lower. Stocker cattle and calves mostly steady to $2 higher on very limited receipts. Demand moderate for all classes. Unseasonab­ly cold and windy weather after the Easter holiday has limited cattle movement. Warmer temperatur­es are expected next week, but high winds will be present. Supply included 60 percent over 600 lbs.; 45 percent heifers. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 67,686 head. Last week's total head count was 100,222. March 15, 2018: Slaughter kids mostly $18-$20 higher. Slaughter nannies and billies $5-$7 higher in a more limited test. Feeder kids $15-$18 higher on limited comparable weight ranges. Slaughter lambs $2 higher. Slaughter ewes $5 higher. No recent full test of feeder lambs for a trend. Demand good to very good for all classes, especially slaughter kids. Quality average to attractive with several offerings of quite attractive slaughter kids and lambs. Recent rainfall in some areas has caused demand to pick up but it remains dry in most of the trading area. There was a handful of younger feeder ewes on offer that brought $110$130. Supply included 54 percent goats and 46 percent lambs. All goats and lambs are sold by the cwt. Next auction is slated for April 20, 2018.
