Chae Modern Korean to close at end of month

When April comes to a close, so, too, will Chae Modern Korean Restaurant, 1933 NW 23.

Owner Daniel Chae made the announceme­nt on social media last Tuesday, which happened to be his birthday.

However, not all the flavors of Chae will disappear when the restaurant closes. Chae also owns Urbun, which you read about here last month, and an All About Cha franchise in Nichols Hills.

Urbun celebrates its one-year anniversar­y in May and will ring it in by adding the small plates menu from Chae. (Here’s hoping the transcende­nt Oxtail Soup finds its way to Urbun, too!)

Chae’s All About Cha location at 7300 N Western Ave. will take on the brunch service chef Vuong Nguyen introduced before leaving for Tulsa.

Chae said the time attention required from one full-service restaurant was greater than what was needed at his two other properties combined, triggering the contractio­n.

Tickets are $20 and can be found on eventbrite. com, the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce, the Midwest City YMCA and Midwest City Fire Station.

Local branches of Arvest and Bancfirst also will have them. Tickets will be available at the door for $25.
