Church partners with recovery ministry
Life.Church and Hope is Alive recently hosted a celebration in honor of the many men and women in the community who are overcoming their addictions.
During the celebration, known as Mentor Night, Hope is Alive participants shared their stories of life change and celebrated their recovery during the event at the Chesapeake Boathouse, 725 S Lincoln Blvd.
Also, Hope is Alive accepted a $50,000 Life.Church grant to mark the beginning of another year in partnership. The two organizations have partnered since 2016 to help restore families affected by addiction through mentorship, spiritual guidance and leadership development.
“Addiction affects more than just one person, and it takes more than one person to help break the bondage of addiction,” said Doug Cowart, Life.Church Moore LifeGroups/LifeMissions pastor. “Hope is Alive has made amazing progress in helping break the cycle of addiction in families all across our city, and we’re honored to be a part of it.”
Hope is Alive was founded by Lance Lang to inspire hope, build foundations, and change the lives of people affected by addiction. Through Mentoring Homes, the nonprofit helps men and women make the transition from achieving sobriety to conquering addiction the rest of their lives.
