Oklahoma starter Paige Parker (21-2) took the loss, pitching just three innings and giving up three runs on two home runs.
Oregon’s DJ Sanders belted a 2-run homer in the first and Mary Iakapo added a solo blast in the third. The Sooners, 39-3, play Oregon State in Corvalis, Oregon on Friday and Saturday.
Cowboys, Jayhawks play doubleheader on Friday
Oklahoma State will play Kansas in a doubleheader Friday beginning at 2 p.m. in Stillwater at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys and Jayhawks were originally scheduled to play single games Friday and Saturday. The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Friday since the weather forecast calls for rain on Saturday.
The three-game series will conclude with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday.
The Cowboys enter the series at 20-14 overall and 9-3 in the Big 12, tied with Oklahoma for the conference lead. The Jayhawks are 19-17 with a 3-8 league record.
OU’s Alo finalist for award
Oklahoma softball player Jocelyn Alo has been named one of 25 finalists for the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year, it was announced Thursday.
Alo, from Hauula, Hawaii, currently leads the Big 12 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI. Nationally, she ranks second in home runs, third in slugging percentage and fifth in RBI.
The top 10 finalists will be unveiled May 10. The top three will be revealed May 23. The winner will be announced May 29.
OSU, OU seek Big 12 golf title
No. 16 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Oklahoma will compete for the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship Friday and Sunday in Dallas.
The 54-hole tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,215-yard Dallas Athletic Club. Both OSU and OU will begin play in the top group, paired with golfers from No. 7 Texas.
Thirty-six holes will be played on Friday as Saturday’s second round was moved up due to expected rain.
