An economic impact survey released by Google shows the support provided local communities as a result of the Google Data Center in Pryor.

With about 400 employees, with a combined direct income of approximately $31.5 million, the data center is making its mark on the community, according to information studied by Oxford Economics. The economic impact survey also shows the ripple effects to business, measuring direct, indirect and induced jobs and income generated.

The data center was built in 2011 and has invested more than $2.5 billion in the site. The Oklahoman reported in February that Google plans to spend $600 million to expand its current facilities.

The survey examines current impact of the data center. In addition to the jobs and income, it is estimated to have contributed directly to 256 construction jobs for $13.1 million.

A look at indirect and induced impact was also examined. Indirect impact is the employment and added contributions that are supported through the Google data center’s supply chain. An additional 322 jobs worth $22.2 million are estimated for the center in Pryor.

Induced impact goes one step further and is commonly referred to as the “multiplier effect.” It is the economic benefit that results as Google employees and vendors (and their employees) spend their incomes in the local community. This value is estimated to provide for 305 jobs and is worth $12.8 million.
