Suspect arrives in Oklahoma
Ronnie Dean Busick is now in the Craig County jail to face charges in four killings from 1999.
VINITA — A man charged in the 1999 deaths of a Welch couple and two teen girls who arrived in Oklahoma on Wednesday told a reporter “I will only talk to the families,” when asked about the location of the girls’ bodies.
Ronnie Dean Busick, 66, of Wichita, Kansas, was transported from Harvey County, Kansas, to the Craig County jail in Vinita.
He is being held on a $1 million bail and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
A handcuffed and shackled Busick, arriving at the Craig County jail, said he doesn’t know where Ashley and Lauria’s bodies are located.
“I will only talk to the families,” Busick said when asked by a reporter where the remains are located, as he was being led away.
Lauria Bible’s uncle, Lonnie Leforce, shouted out to Busick “Tell me where my niece is.”
Busick turned around and looked surprised when confronted by Lauria’s uncle and denied any involvement in the slayings or knowledge where the girls’ remains are located.
Craig County Sheriff Heath Winfrey would not address specific questions about Busick, but did say all inmates that have similar charges are in protective custody away from the other inmates
Busick was charged on Monday in the deaths of Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible, both 16, and Freeman’s parents, Kathy and Danny Freeman.
He faces four counts of first-degree murder with malice aforethought, four counts of accessory to first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, one count of arson and one count of accessory to firstdegree arson.
He has several drug-related convictions in Kansas. Busick appeared in court in Harvey County on Tuesday and waived his right to an extradition hearing. He has been jailed there since Feb. 21 on a drug probation violation, according to court officials.
