Circle K lists 48 locations from as far north as Edmond to as far south as Norman. Nine of those 48 locations appear to have either closed, had their phones shut off or both. Additionally, at least two other locations have closed within the past few months, but are no longer listed on the company’s website.
One of the closed stores is at 1101 W Memorial Road in Oklahoma City. A sign hanging in the door reads, “We are closed. Please visit our other Circle K locations.” Individuals dressed in plain clothes were working inside the store moving inventory from shelves, but declined to answer questions about the closing.
Not far northeast, at 15001 N Kelly Ave, in a darkened and mostly empty Circle K convenience store, a sign hanging in the door reads, “Circle K Customers: This location is now closed permanently ... the staff at this Circle K thanks you for being great customers.”
Circle K was founded in 1951 in El Paso, Texas, according to the company’s website. In 2003, Circle K was acquired by Alimentation CoucheTard, based in Canada.
Phone calls to Circle K and Alimentation Couche-Tard corporate offices were not returned.
Other locations in question include 2101 SW 89; 6800 N Meridian Ave.; 7104 NW 23, Bethany; 1500 S Broadway, Edmond; 1120 N Berry Road, Norman; 1200 W Lindsey, Norman; 3024 S Classen Blvd., Norman.
Two locations no longer listed on the Circle K website include a former store at the southeast corner of Memorial and Eastern in Oklahoma City, as well as the north- east corner of May and NW 122.
