Man arrested in September slaying
A 26-year-old man wanted in the September killing of an Oklahoma City man was arrested Thursday.
Ronnie Eugene Brannon was wanted in connection to an apparent drug deal gone wrong that ended with the death of Joshua Williams. About 7:50 p.m. on Sept. 22, officers responding to a reported shooting found Williams’ body inside a home in the 1600 block of NE 20.
Investigators later learned that Williams and Kendal Richardson, 27, came to the home to meet Brannon and Trevion Marquise Moten,
23, to conduct a drug deal, according to a court affidavit. Sometime after arriving at the house, an altercation ensued and shots were fired, with Williams fatally wounded. Witnesses told investigators that Richardson, Williams and Brannon were all “marijuana dealers who have carried guns.” Inside the home, investigators found more than 3 ounces of marijuana, scales and more than $1,000 in cash.
Marijuana also was found inside two cars parked outside the home.
Oklahoma City police officials said Brannon was tracked to a Midwest City
home, where he was arrested without incident.
“Investigators are still looking into who aided this fugitive in his attempts to avoid apprehension for the past seven months,” Oklahoma City police wrote in a news release.
Brannon and Moten are charged in Oklahoma County District Court on counts of first-degree murder, assault and battery with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Moten, who was arrested on Oct. 5, also was charged with possession of a firearm.
Richardson, who was
arrested shortly after the shooting, is charged in Oklahoma County District Court on counts of first-degree murder and trafficking in illegal drugs in connection with the death.
