Fletcher dominates in Granite victory

-

EDMOND — Granite junior Cole Fletcher struck out 16 Tupelo batters in a four-hit shutout.

Although the Panthers struck for four runs in the fourth, Fletcher needed only their runs in the first to end the Tigers’ season.

He struck out the side in four frames, including the seventh.

Red Oak 13, Shattuck 2

Red Oak freshman Dayson Fazekas finished what he started Thursday against Shattuck, though he took a one-batter break in the middle.

After Cash Balentine replaced Fazekas to get the final our of the fourth, Fazekas returned for the fifth, but he was needed for no more than that after the Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the frame for a 13-2 run-rule victory.

With Red Oak leading 9-2, senior Grayson Nix hit a grand slam to end the game.

Drummond 2, Kiowa 0

Drummond junior Garrett DeHass’ two-run homer in the first inning was all the Bulldogs needed Thursday against Kiowa.

After two scoreless frames from Brandon Coontz, Seth Gray pitches the final five innings for the combined shutout.

Their effort made a hard-luck loser of Kiowa’s Trevor Stokes, who allowed the two runs on DeHass’ homer and nothing more in his six innings.
