Dodgers drop third straight

After starting the season 15-0 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, the Oklahoma City Dodgers dropped their third straight home game with a 7-2 loss against the Memphis Redbirds on Wednesday.

A top St. Louis Cardinals prospect sent the Oklahoma City Dodgers to their third straight loss Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Memphis starting pitcher Jack Flaherty racked up a career-high 13 strikeouts in a 7-2 win over the Dodgers. It is the first time Oklahoma City has lost three straight this season.

The Dodgers, 22-9, have now lost three straight home games after starting the season 15-0 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Dodgers jumped on top with a solo blast by Donovan Solano in the first inning, his first home run of the season.

Wilfredo Tovar led off the third inning with a homer for Memphis' first hit of the day to tie the game, 1-1. A sacrifice fly by Tyler O’Neill later in the inning gave the Redbirds the lead and a RBI single by Luke Voit pushed Memphis’ advantage to 3-1.

Solano's RBI single cut the Redbirds' lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the third then Flaherty (4-1) began to dominate, striking out the next seven Dodgers he faced.

Flaherty retired 10 straight Dodgers batters between the third and sixth innings, striking out the side in the bottom of the fifth and sixth. He held Oklahoma City to two runs and six hits and did not issue a walk over 6.2 innings in picking up the win.

Adolis Garcia’s homer in the fourth inning pushed Memphis’ lead to 4-2.

Yairo Munoz connected on a RBI triple in the fifth inning for a 5-2 Redbirds' lead.

A RBI single by Tovar gave Memphis a 6-2 lead in the eighth inning and a ground-rule double by Voit brought home another run for the Redbirds in the top of the ninth.

Voit had four hits in the game, including three doubles.

Dodgers starting pitcher Manny Banuelos (4-1) was charged with his first loss of the season, allowing a seasonhigh five runs and eight hits over five innings with one walk and four strikeouts.

The Dodgers and Memphis meet Thursday at 7:05 p.m. in the third game of the four-game set at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
