Orr farm to celebrate moms
Moms can enjoy free admission during the Orr Family Farm’s Mother’s Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Visitors can expect an abundance of outdoor activities at the farm, 14400 S Western, including feeding pygmy goats, sheep and ponies, as well as panning for gemstones and riding a 1974 vintage carousel and more.
“Our annual Mother’s Day Celebration was created to give moms and their children a unique and wholesome Mother’s Day outing,” said Shanain Kemp, general manager of the Orr Family Farm.
Concessions with homemade kettle corn, fudge, hot dogs and barbecue sandwiches will be available. Additionally, the Cookie Barn will be serving sweets, including freshbaked cookies, edible cookie dough and more.

MWC meetings to discuss bond
MIDWEST CITY — The Midwest City Council is considering calling a general obligation bond issue election that would fund a variety of projects throughout Midwest City.
As part of this consideration, the city has scheduled two town hall meetings that will be open to the public.
The meetings are set from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and May 17 in the Midwest City Council Chambers, 100 N Midwest Blvd.
Some of the proposed projects include citywide street repairs, a multipurpose outdoor athletic facility, a new animal shelter, a police/fire training facility and more. During the meetings, Midwest City residents will be given the opportunity to review the projects that have been identified by the city, as well as suggest additional projects.

Quilter to ‘Rock the Block’
EDMOND — The Edmond Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E Memorial Road.
Joe Cunningham, quilter, author and lecturer from San Francisco, will present a lecture titled “My Life in Quilts” with a trunk show of his work and some musical surprises.
Nonmembers will be charged $10 to attend the lecture. On the same day at the same location, Cunningham will conduct a “Rock The Block” workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of the workshop is $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers. For more information, call Jo Balding at 603-7726.
Edmond sidewalk art show set
EDMOND — The Edmond Art Association Spring Show and Sale will be held Saturday at Spring Creek Shopping Plaza mall, E 15 and Bryant. The event is free and will be held on the sidewalks of the shopping plaza.
