Oklahoma tops UCF 7-4 to win series
ORLANDO, FLA. — Kyler Murray hit a three-run home run in the third inning as Oklahoma defeated UCF 7-4 to capture the series Sunday at John Euliano Park.
Right-hander Nathan Wiles tossed 5 2/3 innings to earn his fifth victory of the season. Wiles (5-3) struck out six and allowed two runs, both unearned, on five hits.
With the game tied 2-2 in the third, Murray hit a three-run blast over the left-field wall to give OU (33-19) the lead for good.
Right fielder Steele Walker also provided a spark for the Sooners with a 2-for-5 effort at the plate with two RBI and one run scored.
Murray and Walker powered OU’s offense throughout the series. Murray finished the road trip 5-for-13 (.385) with two home runs, two doubles, five runs scored and eight RBI, while Walker had at least two hits in each game.
Baylor beats OSU 7-3 in series finale
WACO, TEXAS — Baylor downed Oklahoma State 7-3 to win the series on Sunday at Baylor Ballpark.
The Bears (30-18, 11-10) never trailed in the contest and held OSU scoreless until the eighth inning when the Cowboys got back-to-back home runs from Matt Kroon and Colin Simpson.
Carson McCusker scored OSU’s final run with a twoout shot in the ninth.
Jonathan Heasley took the loss and fell to 3-5 on the season. The right-hander struck out four and allowed four runs, only two of them earned, on eight hits.
The loss snapped OSU’s (29-19-1, 16-5) streak of five consecutive conference series wins.
