Colorado Springs Sky Sox erase early deficit to edge Dodgers

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — The Colorado Springs Sky Sox overcame an early deficit to beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Security Service Field.

Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the third inning, the Sky Sox (2313) scored a pair of runs off starting pitcher Guillermo Moscoso.

Colorado Springs took its first lead of the game in the sixth after Brett Phillips ignited a rally with a one-out infield single.

Phillips advanced to third base when OKC second baseman Donovan Solano committed a throwing error. After a pop out, Tyler Heineman hit an RBI single with a fly ball to shallow left field that landed in front of a sliding Kyle Garlick.

Moscoso (1-2) had a solid six-inning outing for the Dodgers, but took the loss. He allowed three runs, two of which were earned, and six hits.

•In Saturday night’s game, a walk and a pair of wild pitches in the ninth inning helped the Sky Sox beat the Dodgers 2-1 in the series opener.

Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, OKC reliever Ariel Hernadez walked Tyrone Taylor with one out.

With Dylan Moore at the plate, Hernadez fired a wild pitch. Catcher Cael Brockmeyer was slow getting to the ball at the backstop and Taylor went all the way to third base uncontested.

The Dodgers elected to intentionally walk Moore to set up a potential double play, but Hernandez (1-1) threw his second wild pitch of the inning, allowing Taylor to score the winning run.
