Grrr! Single moms’ event will host speaker
Candace Payne, also known as the “Chewbacca Mom,” will be the featured speaker in June at Arise Ministries’ Thrive Gathering for single mothers.
Candace Payne, better known as “Chewbacca Mom,” will be featured speaker at Arise Ministries’ 2018 Thrive Gathering for single mothers set for 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. June 23 at Crossings Community Church, 14600 N Portland.
The event, formerly known as Survive ‘n’ Thrive, will feature a variety of speakers and activities designed to encourage and empower single moms. For nearly 14 years, Arise Ministries has provided resources to help single mothers create healthy homes. Thrive Gathering, Arise Ministries’ signature event, will feature a full day of panel discussions, worship, interactive activities and door prize giveaways.
“It is a blessing to experience women of all backgrounds coming together and pursuing provision, friendship and confidence,” said Shelley Pulliam, executive director of Arise Ministries. “We could not be more thankful for this opportunity to empower communities in this special way.”
Throughout the day, Payne and other speakers will share inspirational stories and messages. Payne was dubbed “Chewbacca Mom” from her viral video on social media. The author and mother of two will share her journey of choosing hope for a joyfilled life.
Other speakers will include Pam Kanaly, cofounder of Arise Ministries; Pulliam; Kim Heinecke, director of operations of Arise Ministries; Triana Browne, Miss Oklahoma 2017; Lacretia Mitchell, Life.Church team development administrative assistant; Vince Parker, Switch central ministry leader of Life.Church; and podcast host Emily Thomas.
Tickets for the event are $30 through June 15. Group rates are available for 10 or more people. Admission includes breakfast and lunch. Childcare is available for children 10 and younger for $5 per family.
