MEMORIAL DAY TRAVEL
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority have announced the following projects that may affect holiday travel.
Interstates
1) Interstate 35 reduced speeds near Davis in Murray County Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds on I-35 just south of State Highway 7 at Mile Marker 54 near Davis for a bridge replacement project.
2) Interstate 40 north frontage road closed east of State Highway 44 in Washita County
All lanes of the I-40 north frontage road are closed over Sand Creek, just east of the SH 44 junction near Foss, for a bridge project. Use I-40 exits at Stafford Road, Mile Marker 57, and SH 44, Mile Marker 54, to detour.
Turnpikes
3) Speeds are reduced to 55 mph on the Turner Turnpike between Bristow and Tulsa for a six-lane expansion project.
4) The interchange ramps from the Cimarron Turnpike and I-35 are closed. Detours on temporary ramps are in place.
Statewide
5) U.S. 412/U.S. 64 narrowed, ramps closed at State Highway 151 (near Keystone Dam) in Tulsa County
Drivers should be alert to a traffic shift on east and westbound U.S. 412/U.S. 64 at the SH 151 junction north of Keystone Dam as part of an ongoing bridge replacement project. The westbound U.S. 412/U.S. 64 on-ramp from northbound SH 151 and the westbound U.S. 412/U.S. 64 off-ramp to southbound SH 151 are both closed. Consider an alternate route such as State Highway 51, State Highway 97 or U.S. 412/ U.S. 64.
6) U.S. 412/U.S. 64 narrowed west of SH 151 junction in Pawnee and Osage counties Westbound U.S. 412/U.S. 64 is narrowed to one lane from west of the SH 151 junction to the west approximately four miles for a resurfacing project. 7) State Highway 48 narrowed at Cimarron River in Creek County
SH 48 is narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals in place over the Cimarron River, 2 miles north of the SH 51 junction near Mannford, for a bridge replacement project. Delays can be expected and drivers should allow extra time to travel through this work zone.
8) State Highway 10 closed, detoured near Miami in Ottawa County
SH 10 is closed 5 miles east of the Will Rogers Turnpike at the Spring River near Miami for bridge replacement. Traffic is detoured to State Highway 137 or State Highway 125 and U.S. 60. 9) U.S. 64 narrowed near Moffett in Sequoyah County Westbound U.S. 64 is narrowed to one lane from the Arkansas River west near Moffett as part of a bridge rehabilitation project.
10) State Highway 2 narrowed near Moyers in Pushmataha County State Highway 2 is narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals in place over Buck Creek, 7 miles north of the State Highway 3 junction near Moyers for a bridge rehabilitation project.
11) U.S. 81 narrowed near SH 3 in Kingfisher County U.S. 81 is narrowed to one lane in each direction north of the SH 3 junction in Kingfisher for a bridge replacement project.
12) U.S. 81 reduced speeds near Okarche in Kingfisher County
Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds and traffic shifts on U.S. 81 between Okarche and Kingfisher for a widening project.
13) State Highway 79 reduced speed at the Red River in Jefferson County Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds on SH 79 at the Red River for a bridge replacement project.
14) U.S. 77 narrowed near State Highway 7 on Friday in Murray County
U.S. 77 will be narrowed to one lane with flagging operations in place just north of the SH 7 junction in Davis on Friday as part of a resurfacing project.
15) U.S. 81 reduced speed south of Waurika in Jefferson County
Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds on U.S. 81 south of Waurika for a bridge replacement project. 16) U.S. 270 reduced speeds near SH 51 junction in Dewey County Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds on U.S. 270 near the SH 51 junction near Seiling for a widening project.
17) State Highway 8 reduced speeds near Burlington in Alfalfa County Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds, a wide load restriction and possible short delays on State Highway 8 north of the State Highway 11 junction near Burlington for a bridge replacement project.
18) U.S. 385 traffic shifted south of U.S. 287 in Cimarron County
U.S. 385 traffic is shifted south of the U.S. 287 junction near Boise City for a bridge replacement project.
Oklahoma City metro area
• Interstate 235 shifted at N 36, ramp closed at N 50
• North and southbound I-235 is shifted between the Interstate 44 interchange and N 36 for ongoing reconstruction. Drivers can expect delays in the corridor due to the narrowed configuration. The southbound I-235 on-ramp from N 50 is also closed.
• I-35/I-235/I-40 Dallas Junction, lanes shifted
• North and southbound I-35 between NE 10 and SE 15t and eastbound and westbound I-40 between Martin Luther King Avenue/ Eastern Avenue and Western Avenue, lanes will be shifted to add an extra north and southbound I-35 lane between Martin Luther King Avenue/Eastern Avenue and SE 15.
• I-40 lanes shifted, service road narrowed at State Highway 4/Mustang Road for turnpike project
• Eastbound I-40 lanes are shifted between SH 4/ Mustang Road and Morgan Road. The eastbound I-40 collector road is narrowed to one lane between SH 4/ Mustang Road and the John Kilpatrick Turnpike for work by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.
• Wide loads restricted on State Highway 33 in Guthrie • Wide loads are restricted from using SH 33 between I-35 and State Highway 74 due to ongoing SH 33 bridge reconstruction in Guthrie. Wide loads must detour on I-35 or SH 74.
Tulsa metro area
• U.S. 75 closed north of I-44
• All lanes of northbound U.S. 75 are closed between 41st Street South and Southwest Boulevard near the Red Fork split, just north of the I-44 junction for a bridge rehabilitation project.
• Northbound U.S. 75 is narrowed to one lane near the I-44 junction and traffic is directed to detour to westbound I-44 and to eastbound I-244 for access to northbound U.S.
75.
• While local traffic will still have access to the northbound U.S. 75 exit at 41st Street South, highway traffic is urged to follow the marked detour route at the I-44 interchange.
• Westbound I-44 traffic will also follow the detour route for access to northbound
U.S. 75.
• U.S. 169 narrowed at 41st Street South, ramps closed at 31st Street South
• The right lane of northbound U.S. 169 is closed between 41st Street and 31st Street South along with the northbound U.S. 169 ramps at 31st Street South for a pavement project.
• U.S. 75/U.S. 64/SH 51 bridge project at SE corner Inner Dispersal Loop
• The left lane of eastbound U.S. 64/SH 51, and the eastbound U.S. 64/SH 51 (Broken Arrow Expressway) ramp from 8th Street are closed at the southeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop for a bridge rehabilitation project.
• U.S. 75 bridge project at I-244 junction (NE corner IDL)
• At the northeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop, all lanes of eastbound 2nd Street over U.S. 75, including the ramps to northbound U.S. 75/eastbound I-244/1st Street, and all lanes of 4th Street over U.S. 75 are closed for a bridge rehabilitation project.
• Southbound U.S. 169 narrowed near State Highway 20 (146th Street North)
• Drivers can expect various lane closures on southbound U.S. 169 between the SH 20 (146th Street North) junction and 116th Street North for a pavement project.
• U.S. 412/U.S.64/SH 51 narrowed at Adams Road/97th W Avenue
• The left lane of east and westbound U.S. 412/U.S. 64/SH 51 over Adams Road/97th W Avenue in Sand Springs is closed until further notice as part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project.
