the leadership that we received over the course of this season.

“Those kids gave us a lot to be proud of. They gave us a lot to enjoy. They gave us a lot to be excited about.”

Holliday mentioned seniors such as Jon Littell, Andrew Rosa and Carson Teel during his postgame news conference. It’s those players who now depart the program knowing what it feels like to win a regular season and a conference title as well as experience the College World Series.

“We’re very fortunate for kids to leave here with multiple moments in their lives they can look back on and celebrate and say they know what it takes to win a championship,” Holliday said. “So, I’m grateful to those kids with what they’ve done for OSU baseball and lucky to be their coach.”

The Cowboys began Sunday already weary following their first loss to Stetson that didn’t end until after midnight Eastern time Saturday. Oklahoma State knew that if it wanted to push this season through another day, it would have to win a doubleheader, beginning with an elimination game versus the South Florida Bulls.

That’s when sophomore pitcher Jonathan Heasley picked a good time to put forth a sterling performance in a 6-1 triumph.

Heasley looked nothing like the pitcher who came to Melching Field with a 6.72 ERA. He struck out seven and allowed just a single unearned run on his way to registering his first complete game in college. Holliday said it was the best he’s ever seen Heasley pitch in a Cowboys jersey. Heasley echoed his coach, saying that the outing was “no doubt” his pinnacle performance at OSU.
