Ex-teacher charged with sexual battery
A former science teacher at Jones High School has been accused of inappropriately touching female students, as well as poking them with a yardstick.
Larry Michael Mobly, 47, of Choctaw, was charged Monday with two felony counts of sexual battery and five misdemeanor counts of assault and battery. The students range in age from 15 to 18, according to Oklahoma County prosecutors.
One student told police Mobly massaged her back during class in April. She said Mobly then touched her breasts, police reported in a court affidavit. She also said Mobly would force students to dance for him.
Another student said Mobly would tickle her and “touch her on her sides during class,” police reported. She told police Mobly would invade her personal space and made her uncomfortable.
Another student said Mobly touched her buttocks on multiple occasions, police reported.
Multiple students said Mobly poked them with a yardstick on their breasts, buttocks, sides, torso and thighs, according to the affidavit. One student told police Mobly poked her “all semester long.” Another student said the poking was done “every day of class.”
Students said Mobly told inappropriate sexual jokes and commented on students’ breasts, police reported.
Mobly “started at the beginning of this school year on a temporary contract. The contract has expired, and he has not been considered for any other position,” Jones Public Schools Superintendent Carl Johnson said Wednesday.
Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred between January and May. Police were notified last month after another teacher overheard a conversation at a salon regarding the inappropriate behavior. Students were then interviewed.
Mobly did not immediately return phone messages Wednesday.
