The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation has announced its sixth annual Teen Leaders in Philanthro­py class.

The 2018-19 class includes 50 teenagers from 25 high schools across Oklahoma. Five members from last year’s class will return to serve in an advisory council capacity. Selected students will visit OMRF’s Oklahoma City campus monthly throughout the 2018-19 school year to meet with philanthro­pic leaders, study the functions of nonprofit organizati­ons, and learn the impact charitable giving makes on a community. The teens will work on team-building and fundraisin­g projects designed to instill them with the knowledge and skills required for philanthro­py, developmen­t, networking, fundraisin­g and board service. Students selected as 2018-19 Teen Leaders in Philanthro­py include: Hannah Lee and Ryan Schwartz, of Bishop McGuinness; Mackenzie Toliver, of Booker T. Washington; Taryn McLaughlin, of Carl Albert; Grace Anderson and Jayke Flaggert, of Choctaw; Delany Barghols, of Crossings Christian; Olivia Griffin, Delancey Griffin and Lauren Roberts, of Classen SAS; Iris Amaya, Kim Cabrera and Gil Lara, of Dove Science Academy;

Also, Rohan Rajeev, of Edmond Memorial; Sara Azzun and Katie McDonough, of Edmond North; Shreya Kumar, of Edmond Santa Fe; Evan Smartt, of Epic Charter; Gwen Herrada, of Harding Charter Prep; Sean Cudd and Ryan Thompson, of Heritage Hall; Stephanie Rojas, of Mount Sant Mary; Sidra Jawaid, of Mercy School Institute; Brittney Tran, of Mustang; Lily Arnold, Katie Kernal, Charlotte Mancino, Katherine McPherson and Elisa Velasco, of Norman;

Top support staff member

Western Heights Schools has announced its 2018 Support Staff of the Year designatio­n.

Linda Brite, a secretary at Greenvale Elementary School, was recognized for the honor.

Brite has worked in the Western Heights schools system for 32 years.
