ERIN SPRINGS — A Lindsay man turned himself in to Garvin County sheriff's deputies Sunday after he reportedly shot his half-brother and left him in a field to die.

Randy Wayne Brownlee Jr., 23, surrendered to sheriff's deputies about 4 p.m. Sunday. He was arrested on two complaints of shooting with intent to kill.

The 36-year-old victim, whom deputies will not yet name, suffered gunshot wounds to his head and lower leg, according to a news release. He reportedly crawled to a nearby county road, where an oilfield worker found him and drove him into Lindsay.

The victim is being treated at an Oklahoma City hospital and remained in stable condition as of Monday, according to the release.

The victim said he was shot from a distance with a .22 caliber rifle, according to the release. He had reportedly been living on the same farm property as Brownlee, and Sheriff Larry Rhodes said the two had been arguing for several days. Rhodes said there was no alcohol or drugs involved in the shooting.

Rhodes said the shooting occurred in the 17300 block of East County Road 1568, but was unable to give the exact time because of the delay in the initial reporting. The first 911 call came in about 1:30 p.m., Rhodes said.

Rhodes said the victim thought he was going to die and "lost track of time" as he lay on the ground for a "long time" before crawling toward the road.

Brownlee left the rifle at the scene and abandoned his vehicle nearby after it ran out of gas, walking about 6 miles to his father's house before surrendering in Erin Springs, Rhodes said.

Brownlee was booked into the Garvin County jail and remained there as of Monday on a $1 million bond.
