A recent run of Oklahoma State recruiting success continued Monday with the commitment of a current Cowboy’s brother.

Thomas Harper, younger brother of OSU linebacker Devin Harper, announced his verbal commitment to the Cowboys on Monday via Twitter. Harper, an athlete from Karns in Knoxville, Tennessee, is OSU’s 10th 2019 commitment, eighth on the defensive side and third since Friday. The 247Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 81 player in Texas; 247Sports also ranks the Cowboys’ class as 33rd nationally and the fifth best in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma, Texas, TCU and Iowa State.

Harper, listed at 5-foot11 and 165 pounds, was recruited by OSU cornerbacks coach Tim Duffie and received an offer from the Cowboys last week, choosing OSU over offers from Navy and Wake Forest, among others. He would be the third 2019 corner to commit to the Cowboys, along with Tulsa Washington’s Demarco Jones and Cibolo (Texas) Steele’s Xavier Player.

Player committed Friday, the start of OSU’s recent boom. Sunday, the Cowboys landed linebacker Na’Drian Dizadare out of Louisiana’s Evangel Christian Academy; Dizadare was the first linebacker to commit to OSU under new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles, who will also coach that position group. The Cowboys have had success not only in the past few days, but also the past month. Six of OSU’s 10 2019 commitments have come since May 9.

All six were defensive players, which have dominated the Cowboys’ class early. Collinsville tight end Grayson Boomer and Australian punter Tom Hutton are the only non-defensive players in OSU’s 2019 recruiting class thus far.

The other eight are corners Harper, Jones and Player; linebacker Dizadare; and defensive linemen Kody Walterscheid, Xavier Ross, Isreal Isuman-Hundley and Jayden Jernigan. Like Harper, Walterscheid is the sibling of a current Cowboy; his older brother, Cole, is a senior defensive lineman.

Harper’s verbal commitment is nonbinding. He and the rest of the Cowboys’ 2019 class will first be able to sign national letters of intent in December.
