Police arrested a man Monday afternoon in connection with the stabbing death of another man in southwest Oklahoma City.

Aaron Defendini, 32, of Oklahoma City, was stabbed about 3 p.m. Monday at 1436 SW 45. He was taken to OU Medical Center where he died, police report.

Police arrested Dennis Leon Mooney, 57, of Oklahoma City.

The men had been involved in an ongoing domestic dispute that escalated and resulted in the stabbing death, police reported.

Kirby Bourque, 61, said Defendini was his roommate. Defendini was stabbed in the chest with a steak knife during a fight involving several people Monday afternoon, Bourque said.

“He said, ‘He stabbed me!’ I got him inside and tried to stop the bleeding with gauze,” Bourque said.

Bourque said as Defendini lay on his living room rug, he kept trying to stop the bleeding until an ambulance arrived shortly and paramedics rushed Defendini to the hospital.

“I was just hoping he wasn’t going to die,” Bourque said.

Defendini had been a handyman who had been out of work recently and Bourque was letting him stay with him, Bourque said.
