Teens steal car with children inside

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Four teenagers stole a car with two children inside early Tuesday as their mother stood just feet away, Oklahoma City police reported.

A 30-year-old woman brought her children, a 9-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, to a pastor’s home in the 7400 block of NW 7 just after midnight, according to the police report.

The woman left her 2012 white Nissan Altima running while she stood at the front bumper with keyless remote in hand, waiting to speak with the pastor, when four teenagers sneaked up behind her, jumped into the car and sped away in reverse, according to the report.

The 9-year-old told police he woke up when the teenagers got into the Altima, but one of the teenagers pulled him out at stop sign at NW 7 and Greenvale Road while he yelled for his sister. Two other teenagers bailed out of the car and ran, but the driver continued on with the girl inside, according to the report.

The pastor saw the woman running down the street, screaming after her car, and he got into his car to pursue, according to the report. He picked up the mother and her son on the way, but lost sight of the Altima when it turned west on NW 10.

Police found the Altima abandoned with the 4-year-old inside in a parking lot near Greenvale Elementary School shortly afterward, according to the report.

Master Sgt. Gary Knight, a police spokesman, said the baby girl was unharmed and still sound asleep.

Knight said there are no suspects in this case, but the man and 9-year-old described the driver of the group as a tall, thin, black teenager with a mohawk haircut.
