Lindsay man charged in half-brother’s shooting
PAULS VALLEY — A Lindsay man was charged Monday after authorities said he shot his half-brother twice the day before and left him to die.
Randy Wayne Brownlee Jr., 23, was charged in Garvin County District Court with two counts of shooting with intent to kill. Randy Brownlee admitted he shot his halfbrother, Andy Brownlee, 36, twice on Sunday, according to court documents.
Randy Brownlee was ordered not to have any contact with Andy Brownlee or to possess firearms while the case is pending.
Randy Brownlee is being held at the Garvin County jail in lieu of $1 million bail, and his preliminary hearing conference is set for 2 p.m. July 13.
Andy Brownlee was sitting on an ice chest before noon Sunday at the family’s farm property in the 17300 block of East County Road 1568, when shots were fired at him from the open window of an RV with a .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle, according to court documents.
Andy Brownlee believed himself to be dying” after he suffered gunshot wounds to his head and right ankle, causing his lower right leg to shatter and his brain to bleed, according to court documents.
Sheriff Larry Rhodes said Andy Brownlee lay on the ground a “long time” before crawling to a county road.
Rhodes said an oil-field worker saw the gunshot victim and drove him into Lindsay for medical treatment.
Rhodes said the halfbrothers were living on the same property and had been arguing for several days.
Rhodes said Randy Brownlee surrendered to sheriff’s deputies about 4 p.m. his father’s home in Erin Springs.
Andy Brownlee was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital, where he remained Tuesday, Undersheriff Jim Mullet said.
