Turtle races crawl into Yukon
Yukon Parks and Recreation will host the annual Turtle Race for kids ages 5 to 12 at 10 a.m. on Friday at Yukon City Park, 2200 S Holly.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the race to follow.
According to the city’s website, those participating must: 1.) Catch your own turtle. 2.) Decorate your turtle for speed. 3.) Register your turtle, and race to the finish line to see who wins.
Kids must bring their turtle to the parking lot south of Mulvey Pond behind the Community Center.
Turtles will be categorized into groups: Small, medium and large. Awards will be given to the fastest, biggest and smallest turtles of the day.

Show to include hundreds of quilts
The Edmond Quilt Guild will be hosting a quilt show, “Quilting Tomorrow’s Heirlooms,” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 and 4 at Oklahoma Christian University, 2501 E Memorial Road.
The event, which will be in the Gaylord University Center, will include hundreds of quilts, door prizes, vendors and an artisan market.
During the final day of the event, a quilt will be raffled. Proceeds from raffle ticket sales will benefit the Edmond Quilt Guild’s charity projects. Tickets will be $1 for one ticket and $5 for 6 tickets. Entrants need not be present to win.
