Four die in separate wrecks

Four men died after separate wrecks along Oklahoma roads, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Don Mayes, 50, Gore and Walter Alexander Fanning, 25, Miami

About 11:50 a.m. Thursday, Mayes was driving a pickup north on U.S. 59, just outside of Heavener. The pickup went left of center and struck a southbound pickup driven by Fanning, troopers said.

Mayes, who was wearing a seat belt, and Fanning, who was not wearing a seat belt, were pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol reported.

Williston Jefferson, 61, Hugo

About 8 a.m. Thursday, Jefferson was driving a pickup west on a Choctaw County road, about 6 miles south of Fort Towson. The pickup left the road and struck a culvert, troopers said.

Jefferson, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol reported.

Glenn W. Goodrich, 80, Bartlesvil­le

About 10:10 p.m. on May 28, Goodrich was driving a car north on U.S. 75, just outside of Ramona. A tractor-trailer traveling south was attempting a U-turn on the highway and the car struck the rig, troopers said.

Goodrich, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he died from his injuries on June 6. The tractortra­iler left the scene of the wreck, the patrol reported.
