With a double in the fifth inning of Sunday's late game against Las Vegas, Oklahoma City left fielder Alex Verdugo extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Verdugo passes his previous season-high hitting streak of 11 games, which ended on June 2 against the Omaha Storm Chasers. His career-high streak is 20 games, which he achieved in 2017.

He leads the Dodgers in hits despite playing in 43 out of 65 games.

Late Saturday: OKC 8, Las Vegas 1

In front of a sellout crowd of 11,135 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, Oklahoma City beat Las Vegas 8-1 Saturday behind one of their best offensive games of the year.

The 51s have had trouble holding off their opponents in the third inning, allowing a total of 81 runs in the third this season. Saturday night was no different. With two outs, the Dodgers made their run as Guillermo Moscoco doubled to left field to score two runs.

The Dodgers took a 4-0 lead in the third and never looked back.

With the win, the Dodgers moved to 40-24. It’s the fastest OKC has recorded their 40th win since rejoining the Pacific Coast League in 1998.

The Dodgers recorded 16 hits, three shy of their season high against New Orleans on April 16. Matt Beaty led the Dodgers at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two doubles.

Las Vegas pulled starting pitcher Chris Flexin in the fifth inning after he allowed 11 hits and five runs.

The 51s had seven but left six runners in scoring position.
