Trucker stabbed at I-35 gas station

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

One man was stabbed in the chest Saturday at a gas station near Interstate 35 and Interstate 44.

Oklahoma City police found the victim, 32, in a tractor-trailer cab with a stab wound on the left side of his chest about 4:30 a.m. at Love’s Travel Stop, 12225 N I-35 Service Road.

The victim told police he had gone inside to get coffee when another trucker came in yelling about how someone had parked in front of him at the first pump. The man tried to get the victim to go outside, saying he “had something for him,” and walked out, according to a police report.

The victim said the man returned swinging “a black object” in his right hand, possibly a Gerber knife, and stabbed him, according to the report.

The man said, “Come outside and get more,” and drove away in a tractortrailer, according to the report.

The victim later told police he had fueled up at pump two and pulled forward to park before going inside. He said a female truck driver had done the same at pump one, according to the report.

EMTs treated the victim at the scene and told him to go to the emergency room for follow-up treatment, but the victim said he would go after he checked in with his company, Coldliner Express, because he was transporting perishable goods, according to the report.

Police spokesman Master Sgt. Gary Knight said Monday no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
