Re-connecting to Earth Medicine: Herbs and their Healing Properties, 11 a.m. to noon, June 30. Enter the world of herbal healing by using our senses to identify different medicinal plants on an herb walk. Explore the basic healing properties of herbs that surround us such as, yarrow, sage, rosemary, calendula, thyme, plantain, nettle and dandelion. Instructor is Stephanie Holiman, who recently returned to Oklahoma after living in Chile for 20 years, where she directed the organic gardening center Huerto Hada Verde.

Garden Maintenance Part 1, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Commonwealth Urban Farms, 3310 N Olie Ave. Elia Woods, of Commonwealth, will offer a behind-the-scenes visit to her urban farm and address some of the most essential tasks in maintaining a healthy edible garden: watering and fertilizing. Learn how she irrigates her garden and some simple irrigation techniques such as timers, drip irrigation and implementing your own irrigation system. Woods also will cover fertilizer types, organic options and demonstrate how to apply them. Cost is $14 for members, $18 for nonmembers. Register by June 19.
Ladies’ Night Out: Floral Designs,
7 to 8:30 p.m. July 20, 2nd Floor Conference Room. Gather your friends, sisters and mother for a party with light refreshments and soothing tunes as you learn the basics and finer points of fashioning floral arrangements. No experience necessary. Please bring pruners and a bag to take your arrangements home. Cost is $45 for members, $55 for nonmembers. Register by July 16.
Designing Your Fall Garden, 10 a.m. to noon July 21, Second Floor Conference Room. Fall vegetable gardening can be one of the most pleasant times to grow your own food in Oklahoma. In this class, backyard kitchen gardener and owner of My Raggedy Herbs, Lori Coats, will discuss planning an autumn garden space, identifying proper planting dates and selecting the best-suited varieties for Zone 7. Cost is $14 for members, $19 for nonmembers. Register by July 19.
