Arteaga hits grand slam, routs OKC

PAPILLION, NEB. — Humberto Arteaga hit a grand slam in the fifth inning and the Omaha Storm Chasers beat the Oklahoma City Dodgers 8-0 Sunday afternoon at Werner Park.

Starting pitcher Tyler Pill had a rough day on the mound for OKC (43-28), allowing eight runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings. The right-hander gave up three home runs and fell to 2-2 on the season.

Donnie Dewees hit a two-run blast in the fourth inning as the Storm Chasers (35-39) took a 3-0 lead.

Omaha pulled away with a five-run fifth inning. Ryan O’Hearn ignited the rally with a solo homer, followed by Arteaga's grand slam.

Omaha starting pitcher and former OKC Dodger Trevor Oaks tossed six scoreless innings of four-hit ball and improved to 4-3. He had a seasonhigh seven strikeouts and issued one walk.

Relievers Kevin Lenik and Jake Newberry pitched the final three innings to finish Omaha’s fifth shutout of the season. The trio allowed just five hits and struck out 10.

Saturday's late game: Dodgers 7, Storm Chasers 5

The Oklahoma City Dodgers rallied for three runs in the eighth inning to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 7-5 on Saturday night.

Each of the first five OKC batters in the eighth reached base. Connor Joe walked and a bunt single by Angelo Mora put runners at the corners. Breyvic Valera then gave the Dodgers their first lead of the night with a sharp line drive single to center field to score Joe and give the Dodgers a 5-4 lead.

Kyle Farmer followed with an RBI double, and Alex Verdugo finished the rally with an RBI single.

Pat Venditte, an Omaha native, retired six of seven batters faced and earned the win. The former Creighton University standout improved to 3-1 on the season.
