A mother and son were arrested Sunday after a shooting in northwest Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City police arrested Aaron Damien Lawrence Gunn, 16, on a complaint of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and his mother, Monique Brianne Koassechony, 31, on complaints of trafficking illegal drugs and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

Koassechony was "out running errands" when Gunn reportedly shot one of his friends about 5 p.m. in the street in front of their home in the 2500 block of NW 41 St., according to a police report.

The victim, 17, was taken to OU Medical Center to be treated for a gunshot wound on the left side of the chest, according to the report.

Gunn and a witness initially told police it was a drive-by shooting, but their stories didn't match, and the neighbors told police they had heard only arguing.

The witness decided he would "tell the truth" and told police Gunn had been playing with a firearm when he heard a pop and the victim was shot, according to the report.

Koassechony returned and signed a search warrant for police to search the home. Police found a bullet on the floor in one of the bedrooms inside the home, according to the report. Gunn's two younger brothers had been asleep in another front bedroom.

Capt. Bo Mathews, a spokesman for the department, said the gun was not found in the home, but drugs were.

Koassechony was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail early Monday and remained there pending $70,000 bail.

After an interview with police detectives, Gunn was booked into the Oklahoma County jail Sunday pending $7,500 bail. He remained there Monday.
