Dodgers drop doubleheader

- AUSTIN MOSELY, THE OKLAHOMAN

The Oklahoma City Dodgers are having trouble playing at home.

The Dodgers lost their fourth and fifth consecutive home games after dropping two seven-inning contests to the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday night. It’s the Dodgers longest home losing streak since August 2015.

Nashville won the first game 5-4 and then captured the nightcap, 1-0. Nashville pitchers fanned 10 Dodgers in the second game.

Banuelos’ streak ends

While one streak continued, another one ended for the Dodgers.

Dodgers' starter Manny Banuelos’ streak of 12 straight scoreless innings pitched came to an end Wednesday night as did his four-game win streak.

In the seven-inning opener, Banuelos pitched five innings while allowing four runs on eight hits.

It was an off night for Banuelos, who has been one of the best pitchers in the Pacific Coast League this year. He leads the PCL in strikeouts and has the eighth best ERA in the league at 3.14. Dodgers designated hitter, Kyle Farmer, led Oklahoma City at the plate in the opener, going 3-of-4 and scoring two runs.

Up next

Oklahoma City plays Nashville on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. to wrap up its four-game home series. The Dodgers top prospect, Walker Buehler, will reportedly make a three-inning rehab start Thursday night in Oklahoma City. Buehler has a microfracture in his ribs after he was hit by a line drive during a game against the Colorado Rockies on May 21.

Nashville is scheduled to send to the mound former Stillwater High School star Brett Anderson.
