Norman stormwater panel to host open houses

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

NORMAN — The Stormwater Citizen Committee will be hosting a series of open houses for Norman residents.

These events will help provide information about the committee’s proposals to the Norman City Council for funding stormwater solutions.

The dates and times for the upcoming sessions are:

• Saturday — 10 a.m. to noon, Washington Elementary School (cafeteria), 600 48th Ave. SE.

• July 9 — 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Norman Central Library (Lowry Room), 225 N Webster Ave.

• July 25 — 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Norman Public Library East, 3051 Alameda St.

The 16-member committee was appointed by the Norman City Council last spring and was asked to look at the community’s problems with flooding and water quality. It also was asked to make recommendations to the council for ways the city can address concerns.

The volunteer committee met monthly for about a year before proposing options for funding solutions, including capital projects and stormwater maintenance programs.

Residents and business owners interested in learning more about the community’s flooding and water quality needs, as well as the various funding options proposed, may go to www. normanstormwater.com.
