OKLAHOMA CITY Police ID victim in suspected homicide

Police on Monday morning released the name of a man whose body was found Friday with injuries consistent with a homicide, police reported.

Oscar Osorio-Castaneda, 62, was found in an apartment at Ashley Park Apartments, 2603 SW 74, about 10:40 a.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Osorio-Castaneda’s vehicle is missing. It is described as a gold, four-door, 2001 Ford F-150, with Oklahoma license tag number ALX611. The pickup has a hard bed cover with a spoiler over the tailgate and has after-market wheels and tires, police reported.

The death is being investigat­ed as the 40th homicide of the year in Oklahoma City.

OKLAHOMA CITY Store manager’s death deemed homicide

Police are treating the death of an Oklahoma City grocery store manager as the city’s 39th homicide of the year, police reported.

Lester Barry, 36, died June 26 after a fight with a shoplifter.

Police jailed Dajuan Wilson, 34, in connection with Barry’s death.

Officers were called to Crest Foods, 4503 NW 23, where security guards and employees had fought with the shopliftin­g suspect, police reported.

A security guard used a Taser on the suspect, police reported, and Barry was involved in the fight.

Barry was talking to officers when he collapsed, police reported.

Barry was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

OKLAHOMA CITY Man arrested in attempted church burglary

Oklahoma City police arrested a man last week after he reportedly cut a hole in the side of a church to steal items inside.

Robert David Bagby, 53, was arrested on a complaint of second-degree burglary about 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fountain of Faith Church, 515 SW 6.

An alarm company notified the church’s pastor of sensors tripped inside the building that morning, and the pastor went to investigat­e.

Upon arrival, he found a man climbing through a hole in the drywall of the church, according to the report.

The 88-year-old held the man in custody until police arrived, according to the report.

Inside, police found piles of items including tools and furniture. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Bagby remained in the Oklahoma County jail Monday on $3,000 bail.

OKLAHOMA CITY Man injured in drive-by shooting

One man was shot in the stomach during a reported drive-by shooting over the weekend in southeast Oklahoma City.

About 11:20 p.m. Sunday, a woman told police she was turning south onto Madera Boulevard from SE 44 when someone in a red Dodge Charger shot at her car, striking a male passenger in the stomach.

The woman said the Charger drove off and she drove on to the 2600 block of SE 50 to call police, according to a police report.

The victim was not bleeding badly and was standing and talking when police arrived, according to the report.

The woman told police she was driving to a gas station in Del City with two men and her 1-year-old niece when the shooting occurred, according to the report.

Her car had bullet holes on the passenger side of the vehicle, a broken front passenger window and flat front passenger tire, according to the report.

Master Sgt. Gary Knight, a spokesman for the department, said the victim was treated for his gunshot wound and released.

Police have no suspects, and Knight encouraged anyone with informatio­n to call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7500.

ROSE Woman killed in Mayes County crash

A Rose woman died Monday morning after a Mayes County crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Dorothy G. Morland, 73, died a local hospital, troopers said.

About 10 a.m., Morland was driving east on State Highway 412, about a mile west of Rose, when her car went out of control and rolled, according to a patrol report.

She was not wearing a seat belt.

MUSKOGEE Deputy police chief to take over top post

Johnny Teehee, deputy chief of the investigat­ions division, will become the Muskogee Police Department’s next chief upon Chief Rex Eskridge’s retirement July 13.

Teehee has been with the department for 30 years, has been the deputy chief to Eskridge for the past 15 years. City Manager Mike Miller said Teehee has the experience, the community relationsh­ips and leadership skills needed to be an outstandin­g police chief.

Teehee graduated Vian High School in 1982 and studied criminal justice at Northeaste­rn State University. He graduated from the 201st FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation.
