Kids camp confronts grief

Calm Waters will offer its annual summer camp for children recovering from a loss due to death or divorce July 17 to 19. Camp Courage meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each of the three days. It is open to children ages 8 to 18 who want to express their feelings through art. For more informatio­n, go to www.calmwaters.org.

Free sunscreen is available

Stephenson Cancer Center donated 20 sunscreen dispensers for the public on city property and at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The dispensers are filled with sunscreen that has at least 30 SPF and protects against both types of harmful ultraviole­t rays. The dispensers are in the following locations:

• Oklahoma City Zoo

• Clubhouses at the Hefner, Earlywine, Trosper, Stewart and Lincoln Park golf courses

• Playground­s at Memorial Park, Earlywine Park, Wiley Post Park, Stars and Stripes Park, Wheeler Park, Douglass Park, Edwards Park, Southlakes Park, Southern Oaks Park and Woodson Park

Free dental day offered for vets

Oklahoma Family Dentistry will offer free dental care for veterans on July 20. Registrati­on starts at 6:30 a.m., with treatment available from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 712 N Broadway in Tecumseh. Overnight camping to save a place in line isn’t allowed.

Each veteran can receive one filling, extraction or teeth cleaning. For more informatio­n, call 405-777-6282.

Ideas sought on WIC plan

The state Health Department is taking comments on the state’s plan for the Women, Infants and Children nutrition program. About 75,000 people in Oklahoma participat­e in WIC. The program is open to families with incomes below 185 percent of the poverty line, or $38,443 for a family of three.
