Lobstein has rough debut for Dodgers

-

Kyle Lobstein settled into his Oklahoma City debut quickly.

After five pitches, he recorded his first strikeout. After one inning, he had struck out two and looked as if he was in a zone.

About an hour later, he was sitting in the dugout after giving up five runs.

Oklahoma City got down early and couldn't recover, losing 8-5 against Round Rock on Wednesday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Dodgers' tallied 14 hits, but they weren't able to garner much offensive momentum.

Lobstein has played in the majors, but his first appearance for the Dodgers on Wednesday night didn’t go smoothly. He gave up the five runs on five hits and was pulled after 3 innings.

Dodgers looking to gain footing at home

After a fiery start, Oklahoma City has cooled off at home.

The Dodgers are 12-14 in their past 16 home games after being perfect through their first 15 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. After Wednesday's game, they have lost seven straight at home, which is the longest streak since July 29-Aug. 13, 2012, when they owned a seven-game home losing skid.

During the current losing streak, Oklahoma City (45-36) has scored 28 runs in seven games, though the offense has not been consistent.

The poor home performances have reduced the Dodgers’ lead in the American Northern division of the Pacific Coast League. Colorado Springs, which is Milwaukee’s affiliate, trailed by only a ½-game entering Wednesday’s contest.

Up next

The Dodgers remain at home for their next four contests against the Express. After winning two early-season series against Round Rock, Oklahoma City was 6-1 entering Wednesday’s game against the Athletics’ affiliate.

Right-handed pitcher Daniel Corcino is expected to toe the rubber in Thursday’s matchup for the Dodgers. Corcino owns a 2-1 record this season with a 2.94 ERA.

Tyler Pill (2-2), Brock Stewart (1-0) and Drew Hutchinson (2-1) are the probable starters for the remainder of the series. Hutchinson tossed a three-hit shutout against New Orleans on Tuesday night.
