Three arrested after drive-by shooting

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Oklahoma City police arrested three men Wednesday after a driveby shooting that reportedly targeted a man outside a house in southeast Oklahoma City.

Witnesses told police a car drove by slowly when they were “popping firecrackers” with children present about 10:35 p.m. in the 6300 block of S Phillips Ave.

Jacob Lee Pawpa, 25, reportedly leaned out the passenger side window and said, “You’re about to get it,” as the car drove past the house.

The driver, identified as Timothy James Pawpa, 43, turned the car around at the end of the street and drove back to the house, according to the report.

Witnesses told police the passenger jumped out of the car with a shotgun and fired a round toward a specific man. Others in the yard scattered and a woman at the house complained to Jacob Pawpa of the children present, according to the report.

The gunman said he “didn’t give a (expletive) about the children” and fired another round toward the man, according to the report.

The gunman got back into the car and fired another round into the air as he and the driver sped away, according to the report. An officer reported finding two shell casings on the ground.

No one was injured in the shooting.

The targeted man told police he had gotten into a fight with Jacob Pawpa earlier that day.

Police found Jacob Pawpa, Timothy Pawpa and Paul Jason Pawpa, 26, at a home in the 900 block of NE 67 St. and brought them back to the scene.

After being identified as those involved, police said, Jacob Pawpa and Timothy Pawpa were arrested on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

Paul Pawpa was arrested on a Pontotoc County warrant for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a misdemeanor, according to the report.

All three were booked into the Oklahoma County jail early Thursday. Jacob Pawpa and Timothy Pawpa were held in lieu of $64,000 bail, and Paul Pawpa was being held without bail for the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office.

While being booked into the jail, Timothy Pawpa reportedly laughed at Paul Pawpa for being arrested on a warrant because “he wasn’t even there.”
