Bryan Duke recently was named the recipient of the Jane Morse Service Award by the Oklahoma Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.
The honor is an award honoring those who have made significant contributions in the field of education and provided outstanding leadership and service.
Duke, director of educator preparation and assistant dean of the University of Central Oklahoma College of Education and Professional Studies, has presented nationally and locally regarding student cognition, classroom management and motivation. He served as a researcher for Oklahoma A+ Schools and has authored and co-authored numerous reports and a volume of work regarding a five-year longitudinal study of this statewide, comprehensive school advancement initiative.
He also has served in leadership positions with the Oklahoma Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Oklahoma Association of Teacher Educators and Oklahoma Council of Teachers of English.
Duke now teaches graduate courses in secondary education. He joined UCO in 2002 and holds a doctorate in instructional psychology and technology from the University of Oklahoma. He earned a bachelor’s in education with a focus on English, and master’s in education focusing on secondary administration from UCO.
