OU, OSU player representatives announced for Big 12 Media Days
The quarterbacks are staying at home.
With quarterback competitions in Norman and Stillwater, neither OU nor OSU will bring a signal caller to the conference's annual media days event next week at The Star in Frisco, Texas, headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys.
Instead, OU will bring running back Rodney Anderson, defensive end Amani Bledsoe, linebacker Kenneth Murray and offensive lineman Ben Powers. OSU will bring running back Justice Hill, wide receiver Jalen McCleskey, defensive tackle Darrion Daniels and linebacker Justin Phillips. Both Lincoln Riley and Mike Gundy will be there, too.
All four Sooners were starters last season, including Bledsoe, who missed the first four games of the 2017 season as he finished a yearlong suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. He's currently suing the NCAA over the suspension.
In his first full season on the field, Anderson led the Sooners in rushing for the 2017 campaign, racking up 1,161 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also caught five touchdown passes and had 281 receiving yards.
As a true freshman, Murray started every game at middle linebacker and finished second on the team with 78 total tackles.
Powers, a senior offensive lineman from Wichita, Kansas, started 12 games and was named All-Big 12 second team. He spent most of his time at left guard.
OSU is also bringing players with plenty of game experience. Hill rushed for 1,467 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2017, while McCleskey had 645 receiving yards for five touchdowns.
Phillips was third on the team in tackles with 64, and Daniels finished with 26.
Oklahoma will go through the media day gauntlet with Iowa State, Texas Tech, TCU and Kansas on Monday, while OSU, Texas, Kansas State, Baylor and West Virginia will go on Tuesday.
