State agency struggles with website problems

- Staff Writer rellis@oklahman.com BY RANDY ELLIS

The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services has been experiencing intermittent outages on its website since Monday, said Jody Harlan, the agency's communications director.

The agency's website is hosted by A Small Orange, a privatesector company, Harlan said.

The Department of Rehabilitation Service has been planning to switch to host servers operated by the Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services, but the transition process had not yet begun, said Shelley Zumwalt, OMES spokeswoman.

The Oklahoma Office of Management and Enterprise Services is providing technical support to resolve the issues and hopes to have the problems fixed soon, Harlan said.

The Department of Rehabilitation Services' website, www.okdrs. gov, contains a disability resource guide and is a major source of information for people with disabilities.

The site is fully accessible to individuals with various disabilities and is accessed about 10,000 times a month, Harlan said.

"We're certainly not happy about it, but we're not aware of any malware or hacking attack," Harlan said.
