Gundy, Riley on Dodd Trophy watch list

- RYAN ABER AND NATHAN RUIZ, STAFF WRITERS

Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley were among 20 named to the watch list for 2018 Dodd Trophy, an award that annually honors college’s football best coach. Gundy is on the watch list for the third straight year.

Riley is on the watch list for the first time, as he was ineligible last season as a first-year coach. He won the 2015 Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach while serving as Bob Stoops’ offensive coordinator.

Texas’ Tom Herman and TCU’s Gary Patterson are the other Big 12 coaches on the watch list. The Big 12’s four representatives tie the conference with the Big Ten and SEC for the most in the country.
