OERB hosts teacher workshop

-

The Oklahoma Energy Resources Board is holding a workshop in Oklahoma City Thursday that it expects more than 200 teachers will attend.

At the free event, the teachers will receive free classroom materials and equipment and have an opportunity to learn how to use one of the organization's nine energy-related curricula in their classrooms.

Each provides teachers with hands-on lessons that include science, technology, engineering and math concepts that can be taught to youths in kindergarten through 12th grade classes. The courses are specific to Oklahoma and also are aligned with current state academic standards.

Teachers who complete the training will receive a free kit of supplies, a teacher’s guide and a stipend for attending. Materials in the kit range from dictionaries and calculators to document cameras and hot plates.

The OERB’s education program also offers a free field trip to one of 15 museums across the state as a supplement to the curricula for each year it is used.

The workshop starts at 7:45 a.m. at Douglass High School, 900 N Martin Luther King Ave.
